RAID: SCOURGE OF THE PAST

Status: VAULTED
Season 5 with Season of the Black armory introduced forges and a new, short, raid that Ada-1 will introduce to you and your team telling you that Siviks and his Fallen are trying to infiltrate the great Vault of the Black Armory hidden within the Botza District of the Last City that is uninhabitted by people, and steal Black Armory's best wares for themselves.
This season was also important for me as it was the time I started playing Destiny 2 :-)
You and your fireteam will enter the raid, spawning directly on one building within the Botza District. If you manage to find 6 buttons scattered around this map and activate them, you will start "Like a Diamond" challenge which is flawless version of this raid. That means that if you or anyone of your team dies from this point on, the raid will send you to orbit and reset everything.
Scourge of the Past is made of 4 encounters:
- The Holomap
- Ablazed glory
- Insurrection Prime - Phase 1
- Insurrection Prime - Phase 2
THE HOLOMAP

You jump across multiple roof-tops until you reach center of the map. On your way you fight off couple Fallen and reach center with a strange looking generator that looks like you could put something into it...
- Time to assign teams. Three teams of 2 are optimal. First team will stay on the map as one person will be a reader, second person will be helping the reader to keep the place clear.
- Remaining two teams will be hunters (not the class) who will be running around the encounter map and they will be chasing Fallen Berserkers and get their battery.
- For the map reader. it is important that you assign these teams well and say which team is first, which is second, who will be picking first charge and who will pick second charge. Most teams use notation within chat of numbers 1/1, 1/2, 2/1, 2/2 - What does it mean? It is notation meaning: Team / Pickup. In practice it means 1/2 - First team / Second pickup for example. Now why do you need to get your teams so precise? Let's move on to see.
- Down the stairs you notice rather big Fallen whois shooting at every member of your fireteam - that is the Berserker. Tackle him and shortly he will explode on you with EMP pulse, slowing everyone near down, but at the same time revealing his shields. One member of team will shoot his weak glowing spot at his back, second member will shoot the glowing spot at his chest. You will disrupt him and he will become vulnerable so now you can easily finish him off.
- Upon his death he will drop an orb - a charge, a battery if you will. The map reader will pick this charge up, go up the stairs and start the encounter by dunking the charge into the generator that looks like a roundy box. It has a hole in it. Why the map reader picks up the first charge?
- As you pick up a battery, you will notice a debuff "Unstable reaction" that has 1 minute. If that timer reaches zero, you - holder of the battery, will die unless you dunk the battery at the right place, but that is not the real reason for why the map reader picks the first charge. Once you (or anyone dunking the battery) finally puts the charge into the generator, you will get another debuff called "Ionized" - this debuff has duration of 2 minutes, and during this period you are unable to pick any other battery.
- This is why map reader is picking up the starting charge, because for the start of encounter you want your running teams to be fresh without this debuff!
- Once the encounter starts, everyone is at the map and wait for a holomap to appear close to the generator. It is blue map with different things in it. There will be 5 green places with dots: 1 - Schnell building, bunny; 2 - The spawn area, green lights; 3 - Museum, globes; 4 - Antennas, radio towers. All these locations contain the Fallen generator that needs potential battery charge. Yellow circles - Those are you and your team mates, you can and you WILL monitor their movement - names don't appear there tho. Orange triangles - There will be 2 simple triangles and one triangle with full circle - those are all Berserkers, but only that one with full circle is the right one that will drop two battery charges and thus you want to aim for that one.
- Map reader will call out position of the right Berserker and the remaining 4 team members will make their way to that location, making sure they meet the right Berserker by asking the map reader who can tell if it's the right or fake one. Once on the place your team will tackle the Berserker and deal with him like the last one at start. He will drop two charges and this is where our team organization takes role.
- First member from every team will be taking one charge, but the key is to pick those charges slowly one by one. So first member from first team will pick theirs, and map reader will see number of yellow dots appearing above them. Based on the number of dots the map reader knows and tells your team mate where to go. If it has 4 dots, they go to 4 / antennas. If it has 5 dots, it is map. Usually every second charge belongs to generator on the map but be sure to know how to read the map and dots.
- By this point you have two charges. The player going to 4 will need help. Arriving at 4, the generator will be closed by Fallen forcefield. Someone coming at 4 with your team mate holding the charge has to help them tackle a Fallen resistance and 2 Servitors that will spawn there. Once these Servitors are dead, the forcefield disappears and your team mate can dunk the battery at the generator. Dunking at wrong generator will result in death, otherwise you will be fine. The second player who possibly carries charge to map will bring it to the map and dunk into the generator next to it. Notice one thing.
- Next to the map to the left you will notice a pole with gauge on it that seems to be running down. It is a timer for wipe. You must not allow this timer to reach zero, because if it does there will be a buzzing sound and message "Holomap detonation imminent." prior to the wipe. As for map people, if Servitor arrives at the map too close, the holomap will turn off and reader won't be able to give callouts.
- Assuming you did everything right and you have dunked 2 charges, continue doing the same. You will receive command from map reader on position of the next Berserker. Get to it, kill it, and this time second players from both teams will pick up their charges, again - slowly! If you pick up both at once, reader won't be able to distinguish who picked first and who picked second, unable to say who needs to go where – First pick up, waits for reader's call out, second pick up, gets their call out.
- Continue collecting and dunking balls at their respective location, and eventually you finish the encounter, unlocking all forcefields leading down underground and for the reward chest!
ABLAZED GLORY

You fall down to the canals of the district and it's dark in here. Navigate yourself through here until you find crevice inside a wall that will lead into a great chamber - there are multiple crevices and all of them except the right one are dead end.
- Falling down the chamber you fall through large pit until you reach solid ground and lit path in front of you that leads to your next encounter. This encounter we talk about is known between people of community as sparrow / servitor race. Both names are relevant.
- Once everyone is in the meeting chamber that is particularly circular with 3 entrances. One of these entrances will close when everyone is in there. Second entrance is blocked by metal grating with two small panels at each side. Coming closer to those panels, they will open for you and you will see holographic image of Fallen claw.
- Two team mates will melee these panels, and the encounter starts immediately. Significant sound comes from behind the grating and lights up, sit on your sparrows and ride for your life! Activating the encounter you will have giant flaming Servitor chasing you, so unless you like being toasty, you better step on it.
- On your race away from the Servitor, you will encounter many obstacles, gaps and Fallen enemies who might destroy your sparrow. Aside from this, there will be set of 8 buttons scattered around the race. By activating all these buttons, you will get message "A door is open, somewhere" and it is sign that you can continue your race until you reach secret chest!
- The difference of the way you take when you race is, if you don't go for a secret chest, you will end the race at the same chamber you started. There will be 2 team members needed to step off their sparrows quickly, each go to one side of the vault door, and punch the Fallen holographic panels together to close it behind you, finishing the encounter.
- If you go for the secret chest, then past the chamber where you have to punch the panels, you turn left with your sparrow and continue racing that way until you reach empty chamber with tangled platforms. You step off your sparrow and have to complete this path by jumping all the way up where the Servitor won't attack you. Only one person is required to do this part to complete the encounter for everyone. Sadly... I always got scorched before reaching the top...
- Otherwise, in both cases you finish the race and you can continue with your journey to the next encounter.
INSURRECTION PRIME – PHASE 1

You jump up several pipes and fly across the the huge room with pillars past your ordeal with Servtior and make your way through caves until you reach upper part of Black Armory vault. You will run around an angled window where if you look down, you will notice glowing chest. That is your final chest with potential Anarchy exotic grenade launcher :-)
Eventually you will get to the surface, opening the door by punching both Fallen claw panels. A door will open and you will find yourself emerging from house ruins into a large square of Botza ruins. There will be Servitor in the very back.
- Before you start anything, split in teams of 3. One team will stay up on the surface, and second team will get more responsibilities down in an underground circle that surrounds the central structure sitting on a vault entrance - that is the raid boss Insurrection Prime protected by shield and support structures. Your goal is to take down these defenses and for that you will need Drake.
- Start the encounter by killing the Servitor in the back. The underground team will be ready at the entrances leading down that are protected by arc shield, after Servitor is killed, these shields will disappear. Underground team runs down and they start running in circle. As they run around, they will pass 4 stations with the Fallen terminals and timer that is next to them.
- Coming close to each one of the terminals, every team member will see a symbol - A red sphere, a white cube, and a blue pyramid. Punching this terminal will grant them with corresponding buff - Continuous, Parallel, Angular. Three of the terminals will contain these buffs, a last terminal will be containing a glitch, rapidly flashing red one with all symbols - don't pick it up, it will cause your death.
- Wait for every team member in the underground to get their buff. Once everyone does, give signal to the surface team "Kill the Servitor." - Killing the Servitor will result in reset of the terminals underground with caps message "SERVITOR OFFLINE, RESETTING PHASE GENERATORS", bringing new set of buffs. This time, make sure that every team member in the under ground collects the same buff as they collected before to stack up 2 times. By the end every member of underground team should be stacked with 2x Continuous, 2x Angular, 2x Parallel buff, and you can give call to the surface team to kill the servitor again.
- Advice to the underground team - Make sure you run in one direction, clock-wise or counter clock-wise. If you meet your team member who has different buff than you, it will cause both of you to tether and damage each other and if you don't get away from one another, you will kill yourselves.
- Surface team in this encounter doesn't have much responsibility. They only need to kill Servitors when they are given command, and help their team underground to keep them off the adds in form of Shanks that land and make their way down. They already have enough to deal with underground with Fallen coming out of walls.
- Killing the Servitor will cause terminals to reset, as well as deactivating the power grid that shields the underground circle from surface. Underground team can no go up and dunk their buffs into adjacent Drake generators. There are 3 of them. One is at the very top middle, other two are at left and right bottom corner of the map - close to the spawn. Every one chooses one tank, go to their position, and dunk their buff at the generator in one time so time it.
- Drake will spawn and your underground team will now take their places getting in. Drive down to the middle to the Insurrection Prime, time yourself with your team members, and shoot from your Drakes at the same time at the boss, dealing massive damage and taking down segments of his health.
- If you synchronize with your team well, you can take down every 4 segments of the boss's life in one phase. If not, you will need to start gathering the buffs again. If you are too slow and don't take down even that 1/4 of boss's life, the timer will not refresh and eventually the encounter will wipe (you can see the timer on the boss, and on the generators in the underground). By dealing damage of 1/4 you will see message in caps saying "DAMAGE SUSTAINED... REBOOTING COUNTDOWN SEQUENCE" which is good for you.
- Remember after summoning tank you have 20 seconds to use it. It will explode afterwards so be fast. Also be aware that once you get into the tank, Insurrection Prime will be defending itself and will send orbital strikes on you so you need to keep moving.
- Reward chest will be waiting for you at the spawn if you do all well!
INSURRECTION PRIME – PHASE 2

Insurrection Prime's shields are down and he will now face you himself. This encounter will involve every mechanic used within this raid, including the holomap.
- You will need to assign roles:
- 1 person will be a map reader,
- 3 people need to stand on nearby ruins to stagger boss and slow his wipe mechanic, as well as taking down his shields,
- 2 people will be covering the part of hunting Berserkers.
- Start the encounter by defeating a Berserker down in front of the spawn house, have the map reader pick up the charge and dunk it at the generator at spawn to start.
- The Insurrection Prime will fly out of the vault entrance and land somewhere, starting to shoot at everyone around. He will have 6 glowing shield nodes on his body that you need to destroy. Two will be on his knees, one in his arm-pit, two on his back, one on his shoulder. After destroying the shields, the three people will now need to make sure to slow down a wipe mechanic.
- Every time Insurrection Prime targets someone and starts attack, he will either fly up, use rockets or simple rifle weapon. Each time he uses these weapons to attack someone, there will be orange glowing canister on either his elbow or his back. Whoever has that in their sight need to take it down and stagger the boss. If you neglect these canisters, Insurrection Prime will have its wipe mechanic ready, fly up activate Turbulent detonation so be on a look-out.

- While one team takes care of the boss, the group of 2 people will follow orders of map reader, hunt down Berserker and get his two battery charges. Based on holomap, there will be locations assigned by their dots: 1 at the top, 2 at the right corner from the spawn, 3 at the left one - basically you will dunk batteries at the tank's positions from previous encounter where you dunked buffs.
- Berserker can appear on 6 different locations shown on the picture. Again, there can be fake ones.
- You need to get 4 battery charges to summon a Drake. But wait a minute - If only 2 people handle this part, how can they collect the remaining 2 charges if they are on a Ionization debuff? Well, simply ask someone from the other team on the ruins to switch with you!
- After getting all 4 charges, a message will appear: "Drake ready for transmat." which is signal for everyone to come to middle while one guy will bring the tank. Here comes the picture with "CAP" scheme on boss. Wait with your Drake until you have good view at the boss in the middle of the map, shoot him to paralyze him, get off and get to your team.
- Have warlocks and titans place their wells of radiance and wards of dawns in triangular formation and do it quick. What happens next will require your team to get adapted quickly. At these points you should have positions allocated for buffs given to you in just few moments.
- Insurrection Prime will burst on everyone of you with EMP pulse - Check immediately what you have as your buff. Two people will always be assigned with Continuous, Parallel or Angular. Where you have made these triangle's tips, meet with someone of the same buff. To the left you should have Continuous, under boss's feet you should have Angular, and to the right there should be Parallel.
- If you get your CAP right and everyone meets their partner with the same buff, you will be granted with "Phase synergy" buff. That means that your damage is highly increased from pairing with the same buff. If you mess up, you will be tethering with someone of the opposite buff, causing yourself damage and losing precious time on your damage phase.
- Do your CAP and start damage phase as soon as possible. Whisper of the Worm is very recommended here and with catalyst and the phase synergy it does tons of damage so you are able to destroy this boss in one phase. For critical spot aim for the Servitor that is his core!
- If you don't one phase this boss, don't worry. Try again, you will get another chance but you must do all the stuff from the beginning of the encounter to damage phase.
- After killing the boss, congratulations - you may be lucky to get Anarchy! Go down to the Vault and loot your chest for rewards!
